Getting Editing Rights
This wiki is open to members of the Xen.org community for editing; however, due to SPAM issues you will need to send your newly created user name to the Community Manager (community.manager@xen.org) who will enable editing rights for your account.
Step 1: Create a new Xen.org wiki account - go here to create an account
Step 2: Send an e-mail to community.manager@xen.org and ask to be added to the editors list
Step 3: See HelpForBeginners to get you going, HelpContents for all help pages.
Step 4: Play with the WikiSandBox - feel free to change this page and experiment with editing
Finding your way around the Wiki
The MoinMoin wiki is relatively poor when it comes to navigation. It does however have good search functionality. Search for page titles or text within pages using the search box at the top of any page.
The following pages are also useful and can be accessed from the SiteNavigation tab on each page
The TitleIndex contains a list of all pages
The WordIndex contains words in page titles
RecentChanges shows recently changed paged
PageHits shows frequently viewed pages
Avoiding the Surge Protection
The MoinMoin wiki has a security and spam feature called surge protection. It assumes that you are trying to attack the site if you make too many edits in a given time period and will lock you out. Here are a few tips to avoid being caught out:
- Use the preview feature instead of making saving and editing
- If you need to make smaller changes to several pages, wait in between editing pages
- If you get a surge protection warning, stop editing for a few minutes as otherwise you may be locked out for one hour
